Broken steps lead to the tranquil wood,
Roots break the soil under foot,
The canopy makes shards of sun,
Easy, easy no need to run,
Make gentle entry nice and slow,
Need my bearings then I’ll go,
Push and woosh, am in the water,
Cool and fresh just like it oughta … b
Catch and pull, make a kick,
Streamlined glide is the trick,
Curving arm tickles surface tension,
Catch and pull, did I mention.
Rhythmic motion, breath, four and four,
Time now to engage the core,
Side body, shoulders, and the arms,
Keep it cool, it works a charm.
Mighty trees reflect in the water,
Reeds and bushes a bit shorter,
Leafy walls make a cocoon,
This is the beautiful river Lune…. of course!
